Mine starts this evening when I will meet Mrs C at The Savoy for cocktails, then off to the Albert Hall to see Bob Dylan (again). A late supper at Colbert, then overnight at the MO. Friday will begin with a visit to Bond St to purchase this coat, for which I am, as they say, mad.

Lunch will be taken at Quo Vadis, for I ache to taste Jeremey Lee's smoked eel sandwich, after which a trip to see my man and collect certain chemical refreshments.

After that I have no solid plans whatsoever. Is there any football on?

As you can see, this is a pleasing plan.

drinkies and nibbles (ie crippling quantities of red wine and some peanuts) at a pal's on Saturday night.

However, all is rather up in the air since things are looking horribly grim on the b-in-l front. :-(

The old trouble, as it were? Sorry to hear that b :-(

the software is unfinished and the kinect whilst very cool when it works does frequently you make you look a **** by having to shout "Xbox on" louder and louder at it before it finally works. No doubt this will all be fixed by software and firmware updates over the coming months

Games are ok, Forza 5 is stunning to look at and a great driving game.

All in all I would wait 6 months to a year for all the software updates and better games before upgrading, unless you really want one

no less than three local hostelries.

I then come back and have to attend my girlfriend's work's Christmas party (yes, it's in November).

On Sunday I will be mostly recovering before eating a sizable roast supper.

Then I also have Monday off work as I am awaiting the delivery of a table from John Lewis which I have purhcased for the place in London that I have just bought :-)

The rest of the time I do paperwork :-(

Sunday will be taken up cooking a roast (Lamb or Pork most likely)

Last weekend was far better.

Flight from City Airport to Edinburgh on Saturday morning, a few beers watching Arsenal with the fine chaps form Scotland Arsenal in their local haunt, all finished off at The Kitchin on Saturday evening for an exquisite Tasting Menu of Game with accompanying wines.

Sunday was a relaxed day wandering round Edinburgh finished off at the Witchery by the Castle on Sunday eveing for a very good meal.

Monday started with a look round Edinburgh Castle and was concluded at Number 1 at Balmoral for a top class birthday meal in the evening.

Tuesday was time to come home, but not before a great lunch at Castle Terrace. I got home just in time for the second half of the game against Marseille.

I'm keen to try the work of Mr Kitchin.

Travelling and eating, mainly. Also quite a lot of flying and racing cars.

My Scottish wife made me pay up for an expensive whisky they had missed off the bill. I never win :-(

Grub any good?

Grub was refined, tasty and plentiful I seem to remember. Surprised he was actually there working for a Tuesday lunchtime service. We could see him sweat through the wee window in the kitchen door :cloud9:

As usual, I can't actually remember very well what I ate. I remember Maz having a cheese wot smelled of cat wee.

And the sister restaurant Castle Terrace runs it very close, we mentioned we had dined at The Kitchin on Saturday and the Chef sent us a pre starter of "Salmon sushi style with soy jelly, pickled ginger and wasabi ice cream" which was fantastic and I'm not a huge fish eater.

Maz

...missed off both our wine flights on the bill. I'm just too honest for my own good.

I'm going to do the trip they did in The Trip. In winter, so it's all cold and moody.

It was an hors d'oeuvre billed as Full English Breakfast.

He's a miserable sod, mind.

I recently stopped Richard Corrigan in the street to thank him for many wonderful meals; he was charm personified. I also approached Albert Roux in a bar in Thailand and did the same. He was quite moved and asked if I'd like a drink.

I'm a chef groupie, basically :-( :fangirl:

I've always avoided it because IH (RIP) told me I 'should' go there.

I take orders from no man, midget or full sized.

Anyway, the setting isn't particularly exciting, but food was superb and probably the best and most professional (yet still friendly) service I have had anywhere.

Maz

...we left a very generous tip instead of paying the wine bill. All parties were happy. Except probably Marcus Wareing.

Pollen Street Social is nice but not memorable, and the bill is unforgettable.

Berners Tavern is a stunning room and a great all-day dining menu. The better option, for me.

anyway, I had high heels on and couldn't run.

but would definitely put Castle Terrace, The Kitchin, Number 1 at Blamoral, Petrus, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Benares and The Waterside Inn well above them on that score

Cartmel is so picturesque it hurts.
The meal took about 4 hours. An amazing 17 course tasting experience. And I can actually remember most of the dishes, as I took a sneaky picture of the menu.

I found service very average there. They ignored me when I had a wee little whinge about my starter. By far the worst starter I have ever had in a restaurant of that calibre. I'd be extremely disappointed if my local take-away cooked me up lamb patties so tasteless and dry.

I love Tom's jiggly titties :cloud9:

Berni and me are going to do his 3 day short ribs soon.

How long in advance did you book?
