I can buy a Tivusat or Skyitalia box and hook it up to this dish and it should work. However things are never this simple. I just want the FTA channels for now. I might get a viewing card for the football at a later date.

Anybody got any experience in this sort of thing? Some of the forums suggest that I should get a bigger dish but I can't be arsed to put up a bigger dish etc. I want it nice and simple. I don't want to buy the box if it's not going to work.

I have also looked at this IPTV stuff. Seems you can easily get Russian or Arab IPTV but I think it's a bit of waste of time.

You will need a dish pointed at the Hot Bird 6/7A/8 at 13.0°E satellite to get:

RAI Uno
RAI Due
RAI Tre
RAI Med
Canale Lavoro
RAI Edu 1
RAI Mosaico
RAI News 24
Camera dei Deputati
TelePace
RAI Sport Satellite
RAI Nettuno Sat Due
RAI Edu 2
RAI Nettuno Sat Uno
Sat 2000
Italia 1
Canale 5
Rete 4
Senato Italiano

See the following for the list of programming:

ee previous posts here about Tivu from Italy if you want all the main Italian channels all the time. A standard non-Tivu satellite receiver will not receive some prime-time broadcasts. Only mainstream TVE Internacional and 24 Horas are free-to view on 13°E in Spanish - plus a few minor channels.

Last time I tried it I nearly had a Rod Hull type of situation.

For the record if one wants to try to unplug the cable from the dish. Unplug the receiver first. Or you'll end up with an arm full of electricity and a possible 50 foot drop.

There's a good chance you can just re-point your dish to 13e and it would work.

You'd need to check out the satellite footprint.

The further south you are in the UK, the better your chance.
