Stanstead really is a **** of an airport.

I agreed to pick my sister in law and her husband up from Stanstead on Friday night as they were staying with us for the weekend. Their flight was due to land at 11.30am. It was delayed and eventually landed at 12.30. So we left Stanstead at 01.00 and then the M11 south was closed... So we had to go on a diversion and eventually meandered our way across to the A10 and headed back into London from there. Got home at 2.45 when we should have been back by 1am at the latest.

I realise this may not be the fault of Stanstead airport per se. But still, what a ****.

You had 3 Italian flights all arriving at the same time. So they take ages checking Italian ID's.

On the plus side. Ryanair at least have decided to go back to allocated seating so it should put an end to the stampede for seats.

I try to avoid ryanair at all costs but it's the only airline who flies to where I need to go directly from the UK.

Bit off them lumbering them with a £100 taxi bill whilst I sit at home in the warm waiting for them.

I have no problem doing favours for loved ones.

And it was planned closures on the M11, not that I thought to check before I set off. Not that that would have made much difference anyway.
