I had some beef with a sell-by date of today. On Wednesday I made it into beef stew, to be refrigerated and subsequently eaten yesterday. However, said stew was not eaten yesterday and remains en frigo.

My question is thus: should I eat the stew tonight, will I **** myself to death on Saturday?

What say you?

We shan't be dressing as it's informal tonight. Black tie is fine.

or can discern but cannot be bothered to remove it.

Also it is for customers so they do not poison themselves when they forget they have bought too much and try eating beef 6 weeks later.

depending on numerous causes. It is up to us to know if it is bad. Now if you are talking of the pre-prepared, high care, stuff then read caerphilly.

Prepared fruit and veg (salad bags fruit pots) are fine to eat as long as they are not rotten.

Prepared meals need to be eaten very soon after the date as they are full of crap

I was supposed to eat it by today. Today is today. I intend to eat it today. So far, so good. BUT I cooked it in the interim. Does this change today into yesterday?

"BBQ pulled old spot pork, pickled cucumber, slaw and chips"

It was, like, pork. In a bun. With barbecue sauce. It was good, but my hangover was so vicious I couldn't eat much of it.
