They are certainly splashing the cash. Some are suggesting that they are prepared to endure massive losses over time to destroy Sky and replace them as the dominant force.
Certainly, the overwhelming consensus is that their product so far is utterly **** and there seems no way that they'll get their money back for the CL in the short-term. Unlike ITV Dig, Senanta and ESPN they can apparently bankroll the losses.
I can only assume that they are intending to take the people from Sky who know how to make and present Sports programmes (yeah, give or take a few bad ones) over time as part of their takeover.
The other thing is that I read that UEFA take ~£400m of the ~£900m. Which part do the clubs get their money from? The £400m or the £500m? And where does the other bit go?
