They knew they couldn't beat us man for man in the middle so employed a stretching game with their wide front men drifting wide out, in some cases right on the touch line, then used their fullbacks to press right up so they could maximize their wing play.

Ensured that if we wanted the ball then we needed to concede our superiority in the centre to combat their threats out wide.

The result was United obtaining perfect man for man coverage to their liking in the key areas that mattered to them.

This is a problem we will need to solve for the Champions League. we need to be dictating to teams the style of play and not waiting for them to choose where the battles take place. Champions League winners are always control freaks. They control the ball, the possession, the style of play and the flow of game. We need to do this.

You missed the point about the tactics and dictating where the game the game will be played. it wasn't going to be through the middle where Santi, Ramsey and Ozil would rip them apart. nope they stretched us and made our midfielders more isolated making the one on one battles easier.

This is the problem Arsene needs to fix. not every manger / side he com up against will be as stupid as Liverpool and Rogers.

Klopp is correct. we can in the CL if we avoid Bayern who've got players who can emulate United's wing play and isolative tactics.
