View Full Version : In previous years we've auctioned off our poppy-bearing shirts, haven't we?

Anyone know roughly what they've gone for?

I never managed to establish whether the poppys were to remember all those who tragically fell in the world wars, or just our boys.
Though obviously, it would look a bit odd if some players wore them and others didn't. I find the whole thing a bit of a minefield tbh.

Looks like about a grand each I'd guess.

So whilst Remembrance Sunday is to do with 'the dead of all wars', the poppy itself is for our boys, I'd say.
I would add that a German national choosing to earn his living in the UK should be expected to show appropriate respect to his host nation

that us liberating their country for them was a jolly good thing and us commemorating that is fair enough.
In public anyway.
Until they've re-armed themselves.
Interestingly, 11/11/11 is a significant day there too; it is the beginning of their version of Mardi Gras :-)
