"I'm off down the Legion", chaps used to say.

We're a benighted generation really, aren't we?

Other than that, it was a dreadful evening.

And a man with a basket containing pots of jellied eels and cockles and so on. And a fruit machine. And The Big Match on Sunday afternoons. (But that was in the bar bit.)

I was hoping for drunken, down-at-heel colonels on half pay and such, but it was mostly cabbies and newsagents.

that these 'Conservative Clubs' were 'Working Men's Clubs'. I suppose the truth is that you wouldn't catch a socialist working to save his life, so there's logic in the matter really.

You simply can't move in a golf club for them, you know?

Welcome to the Web site of The Association of Conservative Clubs Ltd

You'll find Conservative Clubs all over the U.K. Some of the most popular Clubs with the strongest membership are to be found in the safest Labour seats.

The title of your local Club could either be Conservative, Constitutional, Salisbury, Beaconsfield or Unionist, or any combination of these titles, but these Clubs all have one thing in common - they are members of the A.C.C., and share similar objects in promoting Conservatism and providing social and sporting venues for their members.

If you wish to join a Conservative Club or find out more about the A.C.C. then please write to me at the address given below. If you would like to use your local Conservative Club for political or social events then please contact the Club Secretary.

If so, may I ask if you're an actual grown-up?

The idea that the Conservative party 'destroyed the mines and factories' is particularly funny. The market destroyed them. The Conservative party simply realised the futility of trying to stop nature taking its course.

d bandy about insults much like Cameron does in the commons..typical conservative bluster and bull****e...yes thatcher did take it personally to destroy the mines on a persoanl level. The mines would be profitable and ruinning fine if they had been dealt with properly..scargill was also a cnut in general both left and right were cnuts in the 70's , one side destroying our base and farming it out the other trying to make it a perosnal thing to keep it and be the strong man. you and them were all cnuts B..things could have been very different as neither path was the right one..and its you who arent grown up if you think anything different
