his soup and ripped the middle of it out leaving just crust. Thrown the middle away and is dipping the crust in the soup. Is this a Swedish thing or is he just a wrongun? What is wrong with the middle of a slice of bread?

Where there has been a dish on the table that has a sauce left in it, they will ask "podemos hace barquitos?" Basically "Can I make boats?". Tear up the last of the pan and float them in the sauce to leave the dish clean.
