View Full Version : Bendtner - I feel I haven't seen the situation in sufficient detail to pass a verdict

Was his pass back to Ramsey an act of unselfish genius (espcially if Ramsey had converted it) as Bendtner had his back to the goal, or was it an act of sheer incompetence, and he should have shot himself as he was in a far better position than Ramsey?

Discuss.

Ball was set up perfectly to hit first time on his favoured foot.

Ramsey could have done better too.

I don't think Bendtner bottled it. I think he wasn't aware of the space he had. Having said that, I thought he was poor throughout the game.

but to expect a striker lacking in confidence to control and hit that is a bit harsh. It came at him a bit awkwardly.

If you look carefully he had to stretch his right leg to control it, which would have made it very difficult for his next touch to be a controlled shot.

Ramsey is a plodder.

Can't be having Ramsey anymore. Almost hate him as much as Djourou.

created the equaliser at West Brom and then went on international duty and scored twice for Denmark against Italy in his first game for them in over a year. If anything i'd say his confidence should've been closer to high, than low.

not sure how you find fault in someone not shooting when he didn't have a lot of the goal to aim at and had his team mate in the way, said team mate being the guy who was through on goal prior to that and had the whole goal to aim at.

It would have needed a very, very quick transition for him to get a shot at away.

at the time".

*******s. Quite obviously you had written him off as a player. If you thought he was just playing badly but would still make it, you wouldn't have been so aggressive in your criticism.

Sot he question is: how is someone who watches so much football such a bad judge of a player?

turn around in form coming (maybe that explains the big nose).

I could also ask how anyone who watches the game so much considers that chance of Bendtner's to be anything other than straight forward. All he had to do was open his body up and let it come across him. But apparently in your superior football brain it was "awkward".

defense like Chelsea's.

Even Ramsey looked back to his back flick worst at times yesterday

and, like I say, it would have needed a very, very quick transition. I think only a top, top, top player at the peak of his confidence would have controlled and shot in that instance.

Anyway, Bertrand was coming across very quickly and would almost certainly have blocked it.

Unfortunately it isn't always possible to achieve both these things. That's why, when a striker turns 180 degrees and smashes one in, we're all terribly impressed.

Goalscoring is like brain surgery, in my view. And strikers scoring goals is like brain surgery performed by an actual brain surgeon.
