I've tried to be different sometimes to try something new. But then there is the usual risk of not liking the dish and the meal you were looking forward to turns out to be quite disappointing.

I went to a Chinese restaurant once. not the typical high street type.

I ordered jellyfish and it was f**king horrid.
Then this big bowl of noodles turned up which was more like a soup. With giant pieces of pork in it but on the bone. Try eating pieces of meat in a big bowl of liquid with chopsticks :-(

Rubbish.

Largely because a lot of 'authentic' Chinese food is rank/scary.

However, you should never be too unadventurous. I gaze with a mixture of pity and contempt upon anyone ordering chicken in a restaurant. And the same goes for salmon, tbh.

some sort of calendar or giant photo of the Great wall of china on the wall. The woman will take your order all quietly then scream it at the bloke in the kitchen. Whilst a couple of kids play around the place with colouring in books.

Leave the adventurous eating to scavengers who can eat any old pigswill but actually consider themselves superior for doing so.

The bill always ends up being 10 quid each higher than it should be, but you can't query it because the bill is the most illegible document ever written

you get some for free but sometimes there are more than others. So perhaps you want more on a certain occasion. You ask for more Maybe you said can I have 6?

You end up with 6 plus the free ones you normally get.
