Walked past it the other day and looks like an interesting building.

Why would you waste time going to the Strand with the amount of pubs with Skysports nearer?

They both do excellent varieties of beer, constantly changing.
The Whippet's more cosy and well done if that's what you're looking for, decent food as well.
