MusicaficionadosWimb. I have trouble placing Nirvana in a musical Genre.

They are always mentioned as Grunge.

But for me the other bands that are in labelled as Grunge such as Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains are a completely different sound.

After lots of thought and thinking of all different genres I can not find a an appropriate label to give them.

just f**king listen to them when the fancy takes you, what does it matter what genre you put them in, not gonna change their sound !!
stick them with your easy listening big band stuff, they'll still be Nirvana

being a guitarist myself I like have to correct incorrect genres.

Such as calling certain bands 'punk'

you music types always over egg the pudding imo there are far two many subgenres these days. Make something up with a profound beard stroking and serious expression, that'll do it.
