I have a old school friend who's now a surgeon and he believes his automobile is so flash that he insists on driving through town extremely slowly, so everyone can get a good look at him/it. It's an Italian two-seater sports car thing.

Annoying, very.

On the other hand, I'm a car enthusiast and own 6 of the *******s, from the very flash to the mundane.

Pick the bones out of that one, if you will.

I expect there to be at least some interesting ones in there.

Anything like an old DS? A Scimitar perhaps? A TR7?

no point changing it, reliable runner and we only do about 1500 miles per year. Living in London we do wonder if we really need a car most of the time.

over the years. Too old and sage for that sort of thing now - aside from my Dad's 1979 Silver Shadow, which I keep in the garage as he would have hated anyone else to own it. That's a one-owner car with fewer than 80k, and it's immaculate. Not a great car the day it left the production line though, sadly. And there's my Caterham race car, a couple of 4x4s, M3 for every day use and the goodliddlelady's Fiat 500.

Cars cost an absolute fortune in Norway. This second hand car with 10k km on the clock costs 251,000 quid!

I just used the online calculator for a 90k GBP Range Rover and this is what you'd have to pay to import it here from the UK (divide by about 10 to convert to GBP)

Calculation
Value added taxes: 216 000,00
The one-off registration tax for this vehicle will be as follows:
Tax on unladen weight: 202 856,34
Tax on engine rating: 518 675,00

Tax on NOx: 6 195,00
One-off registration tax for a corresponding new vehicle: 877 746,34
Second-hand vehicle deduction (0%): 0,00
Total: 877 746,00
Vehicle scrap deposit: 2 400,00
Total taxes: 1 096 146,00
