View Full Version : Are the people who present the weather on TV trained in Meteorology matters or they are just a

facade to present the news.

For example Michael Fish. Does he just come on and say what he's told to say or is he there sitting at a desk reading charts.

However he took personal responsibility for certain claims predictions in the past.

GMTV, sky etc generally aren't trained ..seems to be the way

Back in the good old days when you could phone the Met Office and talk to a forecaster about your planned flight it would often be one of the TV blokes answering the call. I once called and asked Bill Giles whether I need to bother putting the roof up on my car that evening. He was absolutely right, it was dry as a bone.

They do it with sports now. I don't want somebody reading the news standing up. Or match of the day standing up. Sit the f**k down.

Maybe Channel 4 started this with the news. I just can't see the point of someone standing up and then walking over to a screen.
