It's 3.5% so slightly weaker in alcohol than your typical pint. It means I can drink more of it, and also enjoy beer on weekdays to a greater extent than before.

They have a very good selection of fine ales. Currently I enjoy the Hobgoblin a lot, also the Speckled Hen. Not so much the Spitfire, I find it too fizzy.

Means you can fit in a few late brandies that way.

Drinking really is a bloody complex business.

Seeing as just a small increase/decrease will have a surprisingly large effect. 3.5% is a hell of a lot more tasty than their 2.8% version, at the same time it won't make you so drunk and hung over.

English beer is slightly weaker than the normal scandy pilsner which you can buy in the grocery store in norway, but have to go to the bottle shop to buy in Sweden.

But the problem is that alcohol tastes really good. I enjoyed a lot of Belgian Leffe when I was in Perth, and it puzzled me how strong the taste was, until I realised that it contained 6.8% alcohol.

A pre dinner dry martini, g & t or jack and coke is lovely, but I need to stick to one. I like the drinking process itself, therefore drinking beer, or wine, will make the evening longer.

But then it is a 25% increase, so I guess it makes sense.

Also, I have often wondered - at what strength does your body keep the liquid content in balance? If you drink 5%, you get drunk, piss a lot and wake up thirsty. If you drink 3%, you will also piss a lot but will not wake up dehydrated.

Drinking a 3.5% lager with your lunch on a warm summer day means you can still drive your car afterwards.

was also known for designing the ultimate strength vodka in Russia. It is always 40%, never stronger, never weaker. The reason being, that 40% is the strongest alcohol content a fluid can have, whilst at the same time the water molecules encapsulate the alcohol molecules. This makes it the strongest drink that you can drink as shots, without it feeling sandpaperish down your throat.

Got into my car afterwards and realised I was in no fit state to drive. Further investigation revealed the beer I drunk was over 11% :yikes:

I have also been breathalysed after 2 pints of 4% and been fine, so I know that is my safe level :cloud9:
