the 2 yr old got bitten by one of the false widow spiders, hand swelled up bigger than a grown ups and staqrted looking very ill.... was rushed to hospital and family was told that could have been fatal

Even with the black widow or its cousin the redback, I don't think there are any reported fatalities from bites?
