both were great in the mid '80s I agree. Never liked the Wedding Present. Pixies - yeah ok, but best stuff in the '90s, PJ best stuff from the late '90s onwards.

Just imvho of course ;-)

Nearly late 80s imo. Cocteau twind heaven or Las Vegas was 90 but the singles were being aired 89.

loved The Smiths & was still listening to their stuff then. The Cure - well...great fan of their first four albums, hated the next three but adored (& still adore to this day) Disintegration which was out in '89. You may have a point there :-) Prince :shrug: alright I s'pose. PWEI - never really listened tbh.

& I don't mean angry...but I really can't remember there being that much decent (British) music around. I do take your point regarding REM though.

In a 300 capacity bar/club in Nashville, TN. Brilliant show. Michael Stipe had hair! :yikes: REM only had Murmur out at the time.

I still don't know why Squeeze made a song about pulling mussels from a shell, buy hey, it was the 80's.
