Seriously, I mustve heard at least three different commentators mention this. It's like the poor lad was kept in penury, like some crazy serf peasant farmer from the middle-ages, with only a bowl of gruel and his measly three and a half grand a month to save him from rickets and the pox.
They say footballers are out of touch with 'real folk' but I think the chaps on the pundit's sofa could do with a reality check too.
