through the Aerial? or is it all cable/satellite?

If so what are the free basic channels?
are they like what I would find in a hotel room. Basic stuff like a local Fox News station. A&E or are these things through cable/satellite?

But they went digital a few years back, so you have to have a digital antenna hooked up to your TV ... but ot on your roof any more, just next to the TV.

YOu get you "network" channels, which are NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX. The "independent" channels out there ... many run prime time shows on a mini-network like The CW. THen you have your public television, PBS.

All other channels you can think of are cable/satellite channels so they are not available 'over the air'.

You see back in the day we all received our TV through the air and our phone was hooked up to a wire. Now, with the amazing advancement in technology ... our TV is hooked up to a wire and we get phone calls over the air.
