You certainly won't in Seattle that's for sure!

Come over to my place, CL, I'll take you to the range for a little target practice.

Remember, when seconds count the police are a mere 15 minutes away.

Your Saffricans 'get it', though. Our large contingent of Bosnians here get it as well.

he lives close by, we also have a gun range 5 mins from us. I can understand I suppose having one at home to protect your family, but my approach would have always been , lock yourself in a room at home and call the police.

Insiders see it as a normal part of everyday life while outsiders see it as disgusting, unnatural and bad for the health of the community

The amendment is based on the necessity of a militia for the protection of a free state.

I'll never get it, guns give me the willies, I never want to see another one.

What guns do you like, Chief? Are you a pistol fan or do you like rifles? Do you shoot actual live stuff or those wee cardboard cut outs of bad dudes?

I like shooting, I'm a bloody good shot as it happens, I just dont like guns. Paintballs and lasers I love.

For example much has been made of the dreaded AR-15, but it's a nice semi-auto for the ladies because it is light and doesn't kick so much. Some would feel it is too light, thus sacrificing accuracy as it waves around too easily.

I have a Conceal Carry permit, so if I am so inclined I like a 9mm as they are easy to slip into a jacket pocket without being noticeable. Believe it or not some folks look at a gun and freak out like it's a cobra or something. :hehe: Rather awkward. A 9mm is light and very portable, the problem as that the recoil can be a bit much for some, so it takes a lot of practice to get used to it.I currently have a Kimber Solo Carry. It's very short, yet it has a large trigger and oversize triggerguard in case I am wearing gloves. you don't want to be taking off your golves first!

I have several hunting rifles, depending on the game. I hunt, or have hunted - deer, turkey, duck, phaesant, quail, squirrel, prairie chicken, elk -- and the assorted vermin out there, rabbits, etc. YOu don't absolutely need separate rifles or shotguns for what you hunt but it sure does help. For example, the kind of gun and ammo you use duck hunting will blow a poor quail to smithereens!

Any respnsible gun owner needs to practicfe in a variety of ways, including standing, moving, crouching, etc. Both moving targets and stationary, bullseyes and, yes, profiles. But you don't practice with your deer rifle by shooting at a profile!

I have a few others that I would call "non-commissioned". A couple of antiques, a few other pistols, etc. But one tends to go with what works best, like football boots. ;-)

doesn't that make your statement ignorant?

I would think that any father-in-law would be pleased if his son-in-law took an interest in protecting his family. Keep in mind that if you undertake this responsibility you better damn well know how to shoot accurately and what kind of gun to buy. Yopu don't want to nick the guy, but you don't want to be blowing holes through walls either. Get a gun safe. PRactice getting your gun out FAST! Preperation is the key.

Likie any potential danger pre-planning is the key. Like if there were a fire, do you have a central meeting place outside? things like that.
