At least not in big games, anyway.

I've seen united a few times this season and they look hollow in there. Fellaini is by no means the defensive midfield answer and neither is Carrick. That leaves either Cleverley (who is a bit lightweight) or Jones (who is primarily a defender and ultimately just not very good at football).

I like the way they are being linked with Pirlo, almost the complete opposite of what they need.

My yanited mates are seriously worried they wont make the top four.

If it is crashing around into opposition players to break up play then you are probably correct though I would imagine Fellaini could do this with a degree of aplomb.

If it is simply a deeper sitting role acting as the fulcrum between defence and more offensive players then Carrick is as good as you will see in the Premier League. I cannot understand how people cannot acknowledge his quality (not specifically this post but every now and then it comes up).

The comment on Jones is simply silly.

It's just weird to see them so open and exposed in there. Obviously not helped by the wingers going missing, which is odd for both Valencia and a Moyes team.

I'm not asking for any specific type of player, believe me I dont care that much, but somebody who actually occupies the midfield space would be a start. They looked like they were playing with ten men against city.

Oh, and if it's silly comments you're after, I'd have a look at the bit where you said Fellaini could do anything with aplomb.

Possibly something to do with the losses to city and liverpool and a toothless draw with chelsea.

City were excellent on the day, the core of players from Kompany – Fernandinho - Toure allowed them to dominate United who were completely out-played. Does not mean their players are rhubarb and they need to go back and re-invent their game. It just so happens that sometimes in football against top class sides that is what happens.

Cast your mind back to our home game last season v Bayern when for the first 45 we were like a pub team in comparison as their midfield physically and football-y dominated us. Our midfield were not ****e on that basis, the players suddenly not good enough. It was one game. We improved.

United have not impressed to date this season, no argument there, but they’ve undergone a seismic change at the football club. They have had a difficult start so best to assess all teams in a month or two.

We will agree to disagree on Fellaini. Good player. Funny how many were extremely keen to see him in N5 only a matter of months ago. Probably even you.

and the Moyes would need time. So after a few games when it hasn't gone brilliantly, everyone starts to chunter.

It's like when England go to big tournaments. Everyone says beforehand that they won't get past the qtrs, then the team get slagged off to high heaven for...not making it past the qtrs.

He's playing awfully right now though.

Either Moyes makes his wingers work for him in the current set up or he has to change shape though.

And it's not really my assessment, I dont care that much, it was just a conversation with my united supporting friends that started it.
