View Full Version : Ok Ramsey is great. But I will go no record again and say Wilshere will never live up to the hype

English media built him up.

It is their job and they simply reflected the desperation to replace Scholes/Gerrard/Lampard.

Jack is the best there is so his star rose.

I think he's got the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the world, certainly if people are using gerrard/lampard as some sort of benchmark.

but can't help but notice he has scored 200 goals for the best side in the country all the same

Look don't get me wrong he is a great player, but compare him to someone like Ozil he isn't really in the same class.

One of his problems at the moment seems to be a habit of running into cul-de-sacs.

4 years age difference, 5 perhaps in terms of career if you add in JW's absence with injury.

Brilliant prospect, who knows how his career will develop. A person that falls for, or believes, the media hype is a bigger f**king idiot than the journalist who wrote it. A person should be more than capable of forming their own opinions.

Look at this message board for example, people suck up the media hype about everything. Giroud was slagged off by the press last year, but if you ever watched french football you would be aware that he is a very good player.

why is it so that people listen to the medias evaluation of a player over the manager. Ramsey is a great example.

Anyway my point is don't listen to the media. :-)

You know full well that to a large part of the media Mesut Ozil might as well as not exist before he moved here.

Yes, even when knocking england out of the last world cup.

When things were a little iffy at times last season the hordes needed a scapegoat, they always do. Some pick the manager, the others pick a player. Some pick nobody and just accept that in football you have **** times and good times.

Ramsey made errors in his play, silly flicks, unsuccesful forced passes. He was obvious to the hordes while other players just got on with being equally as crap but were overlooked. Vermaelen for example had an absolutely shocking season overall last year but not once was subject to the widespread criticism or abuse Ramsey was.

In terms of Giroud most people I assume won't have watched him in France and just judged him on his form last season. He also suffered from simply not being Robin van Persie.

Last season many of AR's performances were sub-par. There is nothing controversial in that statement simply a view shared by many on here and most 'pundits'. Whether an official pundit view is any more valid than the man (or woman's) in the street/pub is not my concern. Yes, he was recovering from a serious injury but that doesn't affect the fact that he simply did not look good enough.

As for Wiltshere, no not slagging him off, he is an execptional talent but he's not there yet, not by a long chalk. I see flashes of genius, but i also see too much overplay and giving the ball away, leading to frustration, squaring up to players that just plain outrank him and needless yellow cards.

I'm sure Wenger will shape him into a footballing great but no i don't like Jack's social networking nonsense and wouldn't want him to become another David Bentley (for want of a better example at this moment in time).
