It's funny actually, in the 80s it was Maradona and Tyson that stood out for me as just ubergifted man-gods. They were just so far ahead of the opposition that it was almost supernatural.

It seems to have exacerbated whatever problems they grew up with - in both cases they had awful upbringings - and spat them out utterly bereft of doing anything but being odd facsimiles of themselves.
