Further proof, if proof were needed, that Gazidis is tight and doesnt know what he's doing.

I thought him having text chats with Fergie was bad enough

Halsey refused the money.

They probably should get them to sign that contract at the beginning to be fair.

he denied that was the case, he paid for his own flights and Mourinho's mate just gave them the hotel room for free. Everything else had to be paid for, and it was while him and his wife were recovering from cancer (plus Mourinho wasn't a premier league manager anymore)

and I wonder if Rich will still claim that refs in this country are perfect and anyone suspecting bias is a looney.

... plus the 50k shut-up bribe that Marve mentions.

Corruption as has been proven in other countries. Corruption as is sometimes suggested by the especially looney contingent on here.

I would expect we have benefited from bias on many occasions, the often stated belief that the bigger clubs get things that smaller ones would not. We of course being bigger than all but 2-3 others.

Then there is the whole issue of home side bias.

we are nuts to imagine that because this is england we are somehow immune from corruption.

The recipe for this to happen is all there

- huge amounts of money in game, plenty from individuals and organisations who have unsavoury rumours around their business practices

- huge amounts of betting

- lots of relatively meaningless games especially early in season and at end involving clubs with little prospect of winning

- unintelligent players prone to getting themselves into situations which could be leveraged by "syndicates" and interested parties. Wehave seen how easy this was to achieve cricket

- the worst paid people on the pitch are counter-intuitively the people most able to influence outcomes of games and of incidents. The officials and after that probably the goalkeeper.

I think it is naive to assume it doesnt happen in the UK. It's what converted me to video evidence as it increases the chance of going home after seeing an honest game.

Gambling on outcomes such as yellow cards could very easily be manipulated on an individual level.

The outcome of a game, specifically the outcome of a game affected solely by a referee, less so as there is only so much they can do.

In the 40 Manchester United matches Webb has taken charge of in all competitions, he has awarded them ten spot kicks (or one in every four games) and two to the Red Devils’ opponents (one per twenty matches played, as I’m sure you could figure out).

This means that 16.7% of the penalties that Webb has awarded in his career have gone to United, though they have only appeared in 10.4% of his matches, whilst their opponents account for just 3.33% of his penalties from the same proportion of games.

Verdict:Corrupt :judge:

And were they home or away??

United, being a very good side, would possibly be more likely to be more offensive than the opposition in the majority of said games so the probability of them being in a position to be awarded a penalty in the first place is probably statistically higher etc .. bluff … more figures … % .

Does seem a litte odd all the same.

:judge:

p.s. Thanks for the “or one in every four games” bit.

:hehe:

Still no real explanation as to why Sagna was allowed to remain on the pitch

responsible for impartially judging you, without openly declaring it to, is pretty close to corruption imo

What would motivate Mourinho to do it anyway? Just to be nice? Chinny reckon

whistle. Given the fact that any time the ball is at the foot of a footballer within reasonable sight of goal can be seen as a 'goalscoring opportunity' it isn't surprising that the Willie Young Rule has got out of hand.

Red card for one player after a bit of mutual grappling is absurd.

July 2001.

Hugely unimpressed I was. Especially so when I was asked to leave the bar as my attire was not acceptable.

Was just about to pull the "do you know who I am" stroke but thought better of it and left the winner.
