I'm looking forward to the day when one of these chaps is described as "a really nice guy everyone got along with and who had loads of friends and got laid a lot". It would at least break the 'nerdy loner' stranglehold.

kill other people - it doesn't come naturally. You have to condition normal people into it. Psychopaths need no such conditioning - in fact, the military tries to weed out psychopaths because they're bad for discipline, don't work in teams and a generally more trouble than they're worth.

It's a computer game, it has no consequences.

The mail supported Naziism, which I think we can all agree was a bit worse than anything on the XBox so far.

Trying to handle this near-iinsoluble dichotomy is essentially what leads to so many cases of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

So, while there are certainly many disturbed ex-servicemen, they are disturbed not because they are psychopaths, but precisely because they are not.

The point I was making is that the media (the mail or whoever) actively support going into wars and the killing on thousands/millions yet seem to think a computer game, with tenuous links to any real-life consequences, is morally repugnant.

Frankly I dont know which way to turn.

I suppose an army is a necessary evil, I'd like to see it used for defence though. And that's defence in the real sense of the word, rather than the idea of 'defending our interests'.

That said, if it's all the same to you, I'll not be supporting, beatifying or lionising them. They are trained killers. We don't express our pride in the untrained ones and I dont see what difference some training makes, frankly.
