civilised now. Unfortunately, they're still persisting with their absurd language, which even they admit is impossible to learn. They need to get rid imo and just speak English.

One other note: if anyone in Hungary ever offers you something called Unicum (stop sniggering at the back), refuse and punch them on the nose. It is literally the worst drink I've ever tasted. Its abiding flavour is earwax. :-(

I went about 10 years ago and had my most harrowing experience in a whore house there. I thought we were all going to die.

down the Danube. There was pork in pastry served with defrosted mixed veg (flavourless, but the best bit of the meal); grey gruel with lumps in; duck boiled until grey and disintegrating served with 'dumplings' apparently made of some building material and finally 'cake' made from aniseedy, wholemeal breadcrumbs glued together with squirty cream and - genius - entirely lacking in sugar.

Wine was good, though. And free, which is the important bit. Got a bit tooty. http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif

I assume this dumpling was similar to the sliced stodge which adorns every meal in Czechoslovakia?

With hindsight, the awfulness of the meal might explain how very drunk I got. :rubchin:
