It caused a bit of chaos on SouthWest trains. My girlfriend turned up at 9.15 for an 8.30 interview. She doesn't think she did very well.

Not really an anecdote, just the only thing I could think of.

because he saw me peering into the window yesterday and walking away, which he attributed to the fact that his colleague was busy.

In fact, I was peering to see what time they open in the mornings.

Then, during the haircut, he asked me where I'm from and I said I'm English but Jewish, pre-empting the confusion which always follows when I say I'm English. He responded by saying "Ahhh, no problem.."
