f**king good stuff imo

The beauty of watching these shows late is I can watch plenty of episodes back to back and not having to wait for next week for a new one :cloud9:

may ruin my enjoyment. Fairly sure that was the case with the wire

So started watching it a few weeks ago, first series wasn't as good as I expected given the way everyone spoke of it but it gets better from series 2 on. Really good show.

I'm told it's the greatest tv show ever made. :hehe:

But Breaking bad was quite good.

And had plenty of amusing moments.

At first you reckon Wtf, this isn't all that great. But then it grows on you.

5 or 6 episodes before I could understand what the f**k was going on. But once you do, it's pretty f**king amazing.

The beauty about the Wire is that it is totally free of any form of sentimental ****e. There are no pretty women in the series, you do not want to be a cop after watching it, you want to quit drinking after watching it. Etc. etc.

Even though Breaking Bad is full of all sorts of violence, rotting corpses, drug addicts, it kind of glorifies crime in the way that one wants the main caracter to succeed. A bit like Sopranos.

In the Wire, you're at least on the "good guys'" side, even though they're not always that good either. Very realistic.

They knocked down a couple of problem high rise tower blocks and dispersed the residents throughout the whole city. Rather than gentrifying the area, it moved the drug problem throughout the whole city. It became much more difficult to police as a result. A bit like the Plata debate here in Oslo

Easy for the coppers to know where the problem is. At the same time, can a modern society really accept that a drug problem/buisness is allowed to go on in the open without doing anything about it?

That's the central point The Wire is trying to make.

If nothing else than for the run up to being fellated when you could shout "KNEEEEEEEL BEFORE ZOD!".

You might want to leave the "Come, son of Dur-El..." bit off of it though, unless you were that way inclined, of course.
