he'd have got here. Did he move because the club forced him to accept Napoli as they received a higher bid for the player ?

Which then would cast doubt on the entire story or the basis of it, the amounts he would have earned in N5.

Thing is the entire sports journalistic population seemed quite sure he was once a target, perhaps less so when we moved our attentions elsewhere.

Forced would suggest Higuain was made to join the against his wishes.

Doesn't mean it's not true though mind. So far as I know, our supposed interest was never confirmed whilst or lack of interest was.

Given that sports journalists habitually fabricate transfer rumous, it's no surprise that when there is actually genuine interest that this is then quickly embellished and blown up into a 'made a bid/in discussions' story.

There is a chance of course that our entire interest was fabricated.

speculation exist side by side perfectly well.

I actually suspect it's more of a Sir Humphrey Appleby, If people don't know what you're doing they don't know what you're doing wrong type affair.

That's how it works in international espionage anyway.

Supporters have no need or right to know the inner workings of the football club. Those who think they do such as the very public AST are bell ends full of self- importance.

Had Wenger sat in press conferences this summer and confirmed unsuccessful pursuits of Bender, Higuain, Gustavo and god knows who else then the already intense pressure would have been very intense. Best to make no comment at all.

It's not about the right to know. It's Just part of the whole publicity game. Speculation is removed from fact anyway and doesn't affect the outcome in any case.

They need not be "official" or involve any paperwork.

That way, both sides can walk away saying, There's nothing to say.
