Spurs have shown great commitment over many years in perpetuating a wildly inflated myth of their own importance in football history.
Liverpool, however, a club with a long list of footballing achievements (unlike Spurs), bizarrely seem to have no awareness of their current status as a mid-table, provincial sleeping giant.
Dietmar Hamann is typical of the breed of Liverpool fan and ex-player. He has now come out with these pearls of wisdom:
"They've given themselves a chance now [of winning the Premiership]."
"Top of the league now, not conceded a goal yet."
Didi, you've played THREE games so far. THREE miserable games.
Can you imagine the depth of their collective despair, when they slide down to their now customary sixth or seventh position?
"But we'd given ourselves a great chance..."
