In 1990s with great des lynam presenting, he was fantastic pundit always willing to give strong views and to have go at bad defending, mifield and attacking play.

But in 2000s era onwards he got more and more lazy as pundit. Did not seem to do any research into teams he was meant to be covering and came out with lazy soundbites. The recent work of gary neville has shown up bbc dated approch to covering football matches.

Bbc needs a new generation of pundits not afaid to have a view and who do their research into football matches. Old boys club needs to be put out to pastor and they need new generation of players willing to give public a insight into football tactics and matches.

which before 1990s never really happened in football pundits world.

But Likes of gary neville have took it up a level and they both now look past it.

I agree on lawrinson who always thought was dour awful pundit with never anything of intrest to say.

They need to rid of him and shearer and lineker and really have a proper revamp sky style of their football coverage.

Its tired and outdated now. Too many bad pundits left their such as savage, shearer , owen.

good on french television but as i don,t speak french i can,t know if their 100% right.

I just think the best pundits are ones who are balanced, do their research and really try to give overall picture of football and have a view on things.

Very few are good at it. Gary neville in football is one of them. Michael johnson in track and field and john mcenroe in tennis stand out.
