save RM his £17m per season in wages for the next 2 years, and he took a pay cut of 60%, so he will 'only' get £7m a season.

That would have made them a great side.

And they'd still have their normal transfer budget of £30m to buy a couple of the donkeys they bought.

Ozzy's goals + assists per min were as good as the monkey's last year, and he's done the same for the last 4 years.

But they've swapped the monkey for a shed-load of donkeys while giving us one of the most exciting players in Europe.

I'm gutted for them. :hehe:

Have you not noticed Wenger saying lots lately about players only wanting to join clubs who play in the CL?

He himself said 2 weeks ago he didn't want to go, agent Ancelotti has basically f**ked him off since the season started so we were the beneficiaries of waiting so long in the window.

Given Mourinho's comments about him it is not beyond the realms of chance that he would have gone for him had they not already spanked their money.

Had they got the CL spot, imagine if they'd got those 3 players and 20 mil for Bale.

They spunked 50 mil on a couple of the donkeys they'd bought.

While we wouldn't have been able to attract a top drawer signing without the CL.

The balance of power in Norf Lahndan could have shifted.

As it is, if we can beat them this year and get CL footy again, we'll be able to attract another top, top quality player, while they'll have spunked the monkey money and still not have done it.

Hopefully, the spud's future will have been destroyed by not getting those extra two points.

And given Nacho made one winner and scored another, that could be a very significant signing in the history of the spuds.

They're off to Russia, Moldova and Arctic circle and paid a lot of money for good players, whilst we have glamour ties and little Ozil

Think being a Champion League Club in World Cup year helped as Europa Cup is hardly prime time.

A lot of things went our way for this to happen, I never ever considered him at all given how valuable (or so thought) to Real Madrid he was.

But this getting a Galactico each year blinded everyone it seems as they let one go to get one that is hardly the certainty Ronaldo was.

Figures are stupid money but £40m for Bale and £80m for Ozil would be more a recognition of quality.

Ozil has produced year in year out at highest level for club and country

Bale is a failed LB who was dropped as confidence went and was then converted to a MF where it was found to be his best position due to not having to think positionally too much and his strength and pace has brought him 2 great seasons but that is it

If compare Bale at Spurs to Ronaldo at United and Ozil at Real Madrid, Bale was big fish in a little pond with nothing like the pressure of expectation these guys have played under.

If Bale starts out badly and with loss of Ozil hanging over him he could fail badly as pressure hits.

Ozil has high expectation to, but he is used to it and stated that he backed himself to be able to play for any team and he will get full freedom to express himself here and with good players around him that play style he loves I expect him to fit in instantly

to fend off competition from rivals. In the end Levy's delaying tactics probably did us a favour.

No CL football = Uphill struggle to attract the world's best players.

I'm sure Spurs would have wanted part-exchange with RM players but knew that they would never obtain them without the allure that CL football brings.
