View Full Version : Have we done the cricket yet? I'm really stuggling with this idea that

Michael Clarke acted with anything other than rank stupidity to declare when he did. Had the series been 2-1, then fair enough - but the series had gone, so why on earth is he being praised for giving England a big chance to win 4-0. The chances of England being bowled out on that pitch in 40 overs was close on zero.

To my mind (apart from the team selection which was f**king rank), England showed much more respect to test cricket throughout the 5 days than did Australia.

could have been, IF they had won or almost won then they would claim momentum, if they had lost they can claim they declared to please the crowd.......

and slowed down the over rate until they went off.

probably thought they could get a few more than that and give England little chance and hope for the collapse. As it was they lost so many wickets that there was a almost a chance we could have bowled them out and won anyway. Very generous target - but you see Clarke is "adventurous" which basically means a friend of Warne's. Actually quite funny that a captain who won 3-0 is getting stick and the loser praise

It's amazing how quickly it gets forgotten that when the Aussies were humping us every 2 years, we often had 'chances' to win matches. The fact that we rarely did was a sign that the Aussies were that much better than us. Here, it's a sign that the two sides are quite closely matched.

that was a freak 10th wicket stand that should have been ended when Agar was 6. In fact we were streets ahead in the first two matches

It is up to the umpires to deal with slow over rates and get the decisions right. It is up to the captain to ensure he keeps his reviews for clear f**k ups.

The Aussies have spent the whole summer complaining about cheating and gamesmanship, but when the crunch comes they don't walk, they slow down the over rate, they want off due to the light.

I see you sort of made that point but some of them are really worth watching again, just for giggles. Sane Watson's LBW review in the 2nd test being a particular blinder

That's not really my point. However, he did whinge like hell about the light until they did.
