View Full Version : Downstairs neighbour told me yesterday he has a "complaint"

"Quite often, late at night, there's a loud clattering noise along the landing...almost as if there's a small animal bounding along! I'm a very light sleeper - any chance you can stop whatever it is you're doing?"

Any tips on how to stop a cat embarking on covert military operations against an unknown enemy in the middle of the night? http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif

this neighbour is tenuously related to the landlord and we're scared he will grass us up (our lease doesn't allow us to keep pets) :-(

To be fair, he seemed to be hinting pretty strongly that he knew we had a cat. I can't imagine he thinks it's us bounding along the hallway at 4am most nights.

Anyway, we've made a pact that if this all turns to **** and the landlord finds out and tells us we can't keep him, we move out.

The fact that it's not allowed out at all will mean it's used to being trapped in a confined space.

Sometimes they do that noisy running thing as if on purpose. Maybe it's to attract attention? Berni's rug scheme sounds sensible.

but closed enough to discourage him from doing his usual sprints from bedroom to living room during the night. Seemed to work quite well.

He threatened all sorts of things but i just said we will move out if you cant live with it. He backed down.

He met the cat and changed his mind :-)

He used to put them in his car and drive off about 10 miles and then release them, presumably, never to be seen again while causing huge anxiety to the bereft families.

I am tired. Kept up half the night by cold-related snoring, snuffling and nose-blowing. Narrow passages, apparently. :-(

And I hardly think a man who has brought a cat into a flat whose lease states 'no pets' is in a position to lecture others on practicality.
