CB, DM cover, LW, plus some squad fodder. And a striker of course. The point is that maybe the club was aiming at precisely the high-profile names that the grumbly fans have been demanding. But now the same grumbly fans who have been grumbling about not spending big money on individuals are apparently grumbling that it would be a waste of money.

You really couldn't make it up.
