there is an individual payment for each ticket (that's fine, although I did book them together) and then there's a 'pending' charge of around £2 more than the two flights together.

Sounds like it might be the authorisation thing you spoke of? And because it's Swiss, maybe the small difference is to do with the exchange rate of GBP - CHF?
