it's ok to insult somebody who is on the brink of a nervous breakdown?

My flatmate's ex-girlfriend is bi-polar and has decided to tell people I am a child abuser. Her reasons for doing this are unclear, though I think it's because I, politely, stood up for my flatmate when she blamed him for her mental illness. I would quite like to massively offend her in turn but she's spent the last two weeks posting hourly updates to Facebook about how she is close to a breakdown. So, AWIMB, my dilemma is this: do I
a) Send her a scathing message, pointing out what a terrible human being she is and that she has gained 6 stone in 2 years, thereby running the risk of her topping herself.
b) Do nothing.
c) Go on Jeremy Kyle.

messages to herself and the police/media don't come knocking if it all goes pear-shaped.

Disgusting accusations nonetheless. Her credibility is surely negligible.

Her mental illness has come to define her to the point where I'm unsure whether she can be classed as responsible for her actions.
Steering clear would probably be the most dignified and mature response, but it certainly wouldn't be as enjoyable as laying in to her.

Plus, any retaliation you do make she will be able to trump without a second thought - and then make you appear to blame for the whole thing. Plus she's a girl, innit, you'll never come out on top in this one.

If people did genuinely believe that I am a child abuser then there would be more impetus on me to do something. Luckily, she is a massive Lady Gaga fan so everybody already knows that she is a cretin.

and she's probably made countless claims about others. Plus, I'm a bit too skint for a lawyer. You know they have/will be getting rid of legal aid over here? I suppose it's a good way to scare people into not coming into contact with the law.

Never mess with a bipolar.

Document the accusations somehow, either through a lawyer or police report, to protect yourself. Don't poke a mad dog

As far away as possible.

Everything you say or do makes it worse. May as well try and reason with a hungry tiger.

Mate's EX girlfriend?

From the sound of things you and your mate are proper bros.....so do this...GET THE f**k OUT OF DODGE

Why are u even still communicating with her....cut off all ties......block her Facebook...change your numbers.....just get away from her.

If u feel guilty about that....then you're going to have to get some of friends and family together for like an intervention...maybe do this before you do the runner...but you're going to have be proper poker faced and put all that shot she said about you two to one side so you can help her.....
