You are not qualifying for the competition, that is what your domestic league does for you. You are entered in at this round, known as the qualifying round as it qualifies you for the group stage. The qualifying round is a still a genuine round of the Champions league in its own right. You get the music, the advertising hording, the alcohol ban. The whole lot.
