and New Orleans and was thinking what other places are nearby that worth visiting. In Texas we will be doing Houston and Dallas at least.

Memphis is on the list too

Plus there will be driving so it's flexible. Which other nearby places are worth visiting? I will only be going for 15 days or so.

and most direct flights go into Houston. Though BA fly to Dallas.

But looking at it again it's not a bad drive it seems. Roads over there seem pretty straight.

But it was going to be he Houston/Dallas - New Orleans - Memphis back to Houston/Dallas then fly back.

This USA is deceptive.

If you wanna go through somewhere quite a bit of the beaten track I'd recommend Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Serious blues 'n bbq there.

I wouldn't waste your time in Dallas. Absolutely nothing to do there, plus the first thing that you'll realize is that you're lost!!

And Dallas is half dry, meaning no booze unless you have a card which is only available to residents.

Agree with the others about Austin.

Houston is ****, unless you fancy a day at NASA. Otherwise, SFA to do there as well.
