View Full Version : Were we not a little bit silly to allow Higuain to join up with the fat controller at the arse end

of Italy ?
I say this, only because if we have the capacity to splash 40m on one player, it still seems highly unlikely that Saurez will be allowed to leave.

Jovetic, who we were linked with for months, seems an absolute snip now at £23m. Have City now become a bigger club than us overnight http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif

elsewhere.

Targets as in reported targets.

I still wouldn't be surprised if we go for Rooney if Chelsea hasn't signed him by the time the Saurez deal collapses.

City can offer Jovetic higher wages than we can. Arsene probably valued Higuain no higher than 30m or felt hurt by RM's breach of the verbal agreement. Suarez, well, he's the last big name willing to change club.

If he comes , it'll be an absolute miracle and at £45m , I remain unconvinced of his value.
Surely we can spend 40 million quid more wisely and achieve better value ?

If the Suarez deal fails, we should go out and buy a ****load of south american players, one of whom is gonna work out.

Not sure how that equates to overnight. As for an absolute snip, Jvetic may be but he simply isn't the player we needed in the system we play. Probably why we never made a bid for him

But Arsene probably thinks Suarez is a better player and is willing to pay him more.

that we're now here to compete at a higher level.
I can't say about the Jovetic business but we were heavily linked for months, as opposed to a one off press gossip punt. Safe to assume we were at least tracking the player with more than a passing interest.
Were we ever in for Higuain, is that just not speculation ?
Just saying that at face value, Higuain was a more realistic target and probably still is when compared to Saurez.
None of it really adds up at face value

obviuosly prefers suarez & didn't want both. If we keep pold & giroud he is probably right. Can we have cesc as well though please?

pold would have been off. We had better get suarez in that case then.

"we tried hard, but there was not enough quality out there" and "we will have Diaby coming back in the New year" chat up lines from Arsene.

Fair play to them if they've got Napoli to pay it. I always thought that the £20-23 million price seemed a little low (in the current market), for a player with his goalscoring record. I never really felt he'd be coming to us for that amount.
