That could be a heftyish bill.

You couldn't find one in an even more obnoxious colour?

Otherwise, it looks fine.

My priority is durability and economy, not status.

and generally intimidating the owner into giving us a 'deal' (he is a little bit nawwwty).

Unfortunately as he's helping me find the car I'm having to only look at ones around his area so the choice is limited.

You'll probably only be getting mid 20s out of that, especially in town. But for such a limited mileage, do you really need to save the odd litre of fuel?

Their margin will be about £1,500. You won't get more than a couple of hundred quid off, unless it's been on the books for months and months and they want shot or unless they have a used car target to hit by month end. (Unlikely).

Nothing wrong with it, of course. Noble profession, etc.

You could buy a Fiat 500 Twinair and get 70 miles to the gallon, but do you want a Fiat 500? You'd look silly.

The Focus is a decent choice.

Buying from a dealer might cost you £1k, but you'll have a warranty for peace of mind and even the possibility to back it if it all goes arse shaped.

Just with worse upholstery, imo.

Utterly f*cking useless when the alarm started randomly playing up and even charged my wife for having a look at it (dunno what the problem is love, dunno if it's covered by warranty). And even more useless when I discovered (albeit 2 years after I bought it but that's when I first got a flat) that the spare wheel doesn't actually fit my sodding car! I won't be buying from them again. :-/

If you buy privately and the thing falls over you're f**ked.
