I can't decide if I'm happy about this or disappointed.

I suppose the main bright side initially will be the scousers losing the plot

I always clung to that solitary test win, in a 3-1/4-1 drubbing at the hands of the Aussies, as proof that they weren't invincicble.

The fact it generally came when the series was finished as a contest, and they'd been on the lash for a week, didn't matter as it was a win.

I see what we're doing here. Huge bid and then offer minimal wages. He'll never accept and we don't need to spend :cloud9:

More seriously, here's the article. It quotes no sources and goes as far as saying that there are reports stating that they won't sell to us full stop.

Reports today suggest the Emirates Stadium side will offer £40m for the 26-year-old Uruguayan, a portion of which will be tied into the amount of appearances he makes for the club but will not include a sell on clause. Arsenal boss is said to be readying an offer of around £150k a week which Luis Suarez is said to be ready to sign.

However, conflicting reports state Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is adamant they will not sell Suarez to Arsenal as they also brace themselves for a bid from Real Madrid who only value the Uruguayan at £25m.

Arsenal are also aware Napoli are *interested in Higuain and if Real sell him to the Serie A club then it will give them cash to make a higher bid for Suarez.

Trust me.

I would seriously question the sanity of a man or a pair of men who thought it made sense, financially and footballistically, to baulk at paying an extra 8m or whatever on Higuain to then willingly pay 40m for Suarez.

I would still question the sanity of a man who valued Suarez around 8-10m above Higuain (the value being based on the figures I have seen bandied about with regards to the fee required to get GH).

Then there is the small issue of the reasons given by LS for wanting to leave Liverpool, the reasons which will remain in place should he come to us.

I just dont want the hassle of him, the constant arguments and controversies.

One probably feeds the other as such, United knowing they can offer xx for Cesc safe in the knowledge that they will receive the same in return for Rooney.

There has to be an Arsenal story because we were so stupidly public about our wedge.

United agree a fee, we then have the option of doing what we can within the terms of this contracted agreement then it is up to two people - Cesc of course and then Wenger.

I won't be in any way upset if he joins them. Player joins football club etc.

By 'understood' I mean that I recognise that it is your position. What I understand less is how a fan of a club cares so little for the interests of the club, and always puts the interests of players first.

A passing interest in the affairs of Arsenal FC is a perfectly acceptable position, of course, but someone with that position might also recognise that others also back the interests of the club. Those of us in the latter camp will naturally prefer Cesc Fabregas to Not Be a Man Utd player.

Club goes on with or without Fabregas who individually I care little about. Very, very good footballer of course who would improve us hugely but I personally don't get hung up on players playing for an opposition side.

I fully recognise that others feel different. I don't think I have ever criticised others for that view.

He is just a player and apart from retirement will play elsewhere. It genuinely does not bother me to see van Persie at United, nor would it Cesc who I do not in any way view as some kind of prodigal son as some do (not specifically you btw).

I am more than happy watching the players we have, some of whom would cause envy to United supporters to expand your scenario. We do however need 2-3 new players which is annoying me more currently than the prospect of him going there.

Great player mind you. If we have an option and he wants to play for us we would be mad to not act on it.
