60th birthday on Saturday night and then flying to Italy for a week the FOLLOWING DAY from Stansted at about 8.30am.

The only way we can do it is by leaving the party at midnight and driving through the night to catch our early morning flight.

Is it unreasonable of me to refuse to do this and insist we sack off her aunt's birthday?

Unreasonable of you to be expected to attend in the first place, in fact.

The excuse 'Some interflump weirdos say I'm right' isn't going to get you laid, though.

...in gloomy rainy Scotland. You should be ashamed of yourself. Invite her along to Italy. You know it is the right thing to do.

of her cousin's new child!

In fairness, she does cover all travel/accommodation/present expenses for these pain-in-the-arse commitments.

It's also meaningless for you, as you're married. What's yours is hers and what's hers is yours, and all that. It makes no difference who pays, it all ultimately comes out of the same pot.

Women are still women. Men are still men. Except for post-operative transsexuals, I suppose.

Whether or not that is reasonable doesn' really come into the equation.

and you will attend because it will give you the moral high ground. It sounds like you have an emotionally crippled girlfriend?

Of course it is a long drive from Edinburgh to Stansted. You're looking at about 7 hours with minimal stopping for fuel, piss and food. If you play your cards right you will offer to drive up and she will have to drive back, meaning that she can't drink at the bash. Alternatively, she could pay for both of you to fly down.

early, bit of food then feck off by 9pm imo other option is enquire about changing the flight out to edinburgh and get train up to edin ? or sleeper train now...tbh tho i'd just cancel the holiday :hehe:
