I told you that unless you're doing relatively high mileages, there's simply no contest. Diesel cars cost more to buy and more to maintain. Diesel costs more than petrol. At 3,000 miles you're much better off with the petrol variant - and you'll have a more responsive, quieter car to boot.

If it's a 1.2l bendermobile then I guess the difference is negligible, if it's a real car then the comparison is probably less favourable.

Isn't that model of Focus a turbo diesel? TDCi would suggest as much. It looks fine, but I wouldn't, as explained, bother with the diesel.

Also, diesel particulate filters clog up, if you don't do high mileages - landing you with a large repair bill. See the Honest John column in the Daily Telegraph. The TDCi engines are more unreliable than the petrol engines and they cost more to repair.
