The contrast between the salty salmon and the sweet onion was quite magnificent.

Personally after the last one I'd go for Bresnan as he is worth a few runs as well.

sparingly he was used by Cook in Nottingham, I think they might go with the ever dependable Tim Bresnan - which also adds a bit with the bat (might be useful if Trent Bridge is anything to go by).

So there's not much in it for the likes of Finn.

he has a good track record at Lord's and is probably the best suited to bowling there. Very good to left-handers as well. I think they will go with Finn but I would prefer Onions over Bresnan (though I take your point about the batting)

have gone down the "Finn out" road, entirely ignoring how the selectors generally behave.

captain doesn't have enough faith in him to bowl him for decent spells?

Remember when we had a team of players who each had a first-class half century to their name?

and a Test average of under 30 suggest he is pretty good (most of his tests were v South Africa and Australia

I'm sure that any test match seamer would be up there with the best in county cricket.

I think Finn will have better success at Lords than Trent Bridge, normally suits a hit the deck bowler for a few days.

f**k all is the answer.

If the pitch has some life in it, he'll be a handful certainly.

and he's retained his place.

Sometimes bowlers just have bad games, like anyone else.

Luis Anaconda

hard to tell what he will be like having not seen him at this level for a while but the facts don't really back up your argument

Luis Anaconda
07-18-2013, 09:09 AM
I don't think they will take him lightly

Free SL

I just worry that he could become a medium pace trundler on a bit of a flat pitch. At least Finn has genuine pace, and height.

My argument is on slightly shaky ground given the last Test being on a flat pitch, and him bowling a bit ****, but I would still argue that he is the more threatening bowler in most conditions, and that is what the selection should be based on.

Luis Anaconda

and his pace is back up since his elbow operation. I think he will do all right. Can also do the carthorse job and bowl very long spells which is important. Finn is more of a four-five over man and that raises the pressure on Jimmy

Hopefully a 50 with the bat and 5 or 6 wickets, as it goes a long way to winning the Test.

until I just saw this on the BBC website

Finn has taken 29 wickets at 20.65 in five Tests at Lord's, whereas Tim Bresnan has taken five wickets in four games at Cricket HQ at 66.00
