Those of you who rent, is it usual to make an offer under the asking price of the rent? How much under do you go?

As a landlord, I'd tell you to do one, if I bothered to reply to you at all.

10% maximum but it will generally get a feck off imo

In the case of me and the girlfriend, we got our current flat for lower than the asking price despite a couple with kids offering the asking price.

The agent indicated that he thought that about £45pcm less was a good place to offer. So I have offered £65pcm less.

Plus it is available now but I don't want it for 8 weeks, so have offered to take it in 6 weeks. So I am pushing it a bit, I think.

We'll see.

I know someone else is interested, but it is a small group of friends trying to rent it.
