Why on earth are the folks who placed bets on the Suarez bid not investigated when it is clear

they got wind of this news a full 48 hours prior to the journos getting a sniff of it.

Have we signed him? No. So are the bets winning bets? No. So how have they benefited from this?

They have taken a gamble, if you like, a bet. The bookies will vary their prices depending on money placed. Without those bets, it is unlikely they would have stopped taking bets. In fact, the only reason they have stopped taking bets now is to make headline news. The market isn't closed really, is it?

of the bid and placed their bets were the ones who profited the most. As the news spread to others, the odds on this bet would have gone up and those who had the first insider info were priced favourably. It was irrelevant at this stage if the deal was clinched or not...

There is no such thing as insider trading, or even insider betting if you like in this market. The reason being that Liverpool, nor Arsenal are obliged to announce a bid to the public at any stage. So you are making these people guilty based on you thinking they knew something before the general public. But you miss a) Who has announced there is a bid? It is just press speculation. and b) The bet is on him signing for Arsenal, that hasn't happened and still has a market worth in whether it will happen/not happen.
