He's a Confederation Cup winner you know.
Things calmed down a bit in Ireland about O'Driscoll or are effigies of Gatland still being burned?
for tomorrow, not happy chaps

If Roberts had been fit for the first test, then there is a good chance that Davies would have played ahead of BoD anyway on form. His performance against the Waratahs was quite brilliant and there would have been less of a fuss. All the same it has been handled quite badly by the fat Kiwi sheep-shagging *******/wonderful, inspired, brave hero Gatland
and to drop BOD completely from squad just seems petty. The lads last night reckon it's because BOD has rowed with Gatland at the end of matches about negative tactics

I remember some pretty poor efforts (especially near post) that cost QPR goals last season although whether they were pre or post Christmas I can't remember.
Re Gatland: No and it's getting Terry Henry embarrassing for the Nation now. Once again we are now in the mode of: It isn't just us who are crying, the whole world's media is as surprised at O'Driscoll's omission. Therefore we must be right. BOD IN, GATLAND OUT. Pubs have issued barring orders against Gatland. It's very cringeworthy.
I may not agree with the decision or Gatland's game plan but Gatland has a superb record as a coach and he has picked the side he thinks it has the best chance of winning.
I still hope (for O'Driscoll's sake) that the Lions win tomorrow (unlike many over here who now want to shout for OZ despite four Irish in the match day squad ). Even if he hasn't played it would make him a part of a winning Lions squad.

but I suspect there may be truth in the personal animosity thing. The comment from Gatland about BOD needing to learn from this experience as others have been dropped for him over the years was spiteful.

If they are the ten best in their positions then I have no issue.
One of the Lions problems is also that they are a scratch side that comes together once every four years so a team based on one core group that play together regularly has some merit.
Against that:
10 is such a pivotal position for the backs that having one of the non-Welsh in that position goes against the core group proposition.
Wales have lost a gazillion test matches in a row to Australia so the Welsh system clearly doesn't work (admittedly several games were won by Oz in the final minutes - second test anyone?).
but adamant they're supporting the Aussies

I think Gatland has cocked it up a bit on this tour but as I said below there are sound rugby reasons for the centre pairing

Don't be an arse...
I happen to agree that 10 Welshers isn't a problem per se but a lot of people see it otherwise.
One of the problems is that the coach happens to be the Welsh coach, and not only that is going back to being the Welsh coach, so the mud that he is just keeping his own players onside is sticking.
Graham Henry didn't pick Welshers in 01 and when he went back to the Valleys they felt he didn't trust them.
When 11 Englishmen were picked in 1993 I don't remember but I am pretty sure it wasn't the England coach in charge of the Lions.

Apart from his finishing, his movement and work-rate are the ideal fit for our system particularly if we stay with the Cazorla/Walcott wide men situation. I've rated him for years so this isn't just a reaction to him signing for us - I never though we'd ever be able to get him :-)

but like I said I don't really have an issue with where the players are from if they are the best for the team.
Gatland is copping a lot more flak for this than Cooke did in '93.
