Cue all sorts of football and samba based clichés in the media.

There was lower level objection in the UK to the staging of the Olympics due to costs on the taxpayer but then you lot were never likely to proceed to rioting and street demonstrations. That requires a specific type of contentious issue that the loonies could get behind. Sport was never really going to get them out in their droves.


Also the riots in London were as bad as what is occurring over there and the Olympics still went ahead.
